I’ll be on a plane flying back from Vegas, but if I were in town tonight, I’d be at this Open Lot show. Jazz-savant stand-up bassist Jason Ajemian and his band The High Life are headlining. Their music tightropes rock and jazz with some interesting results. See the clip above. Jason is also known to descend into some truly bizarre jazz territories. Perhaps they’ll go there at tonight’s show.
Also on the bill is Nashville’s William Tyler, founder of the label Sebastian Speaks and a constant presence on the Nashville music scene. His textural, layered guitar work is the highlight of any show.
T.I. participants Square People Jazz Maturity and Cherry Blossoms round out the bill. Wish I could be there. Show starts at 9pm, all ages, likely a $5 donation to the touring band.
