HORSEHAIR EVERYWHERE
A few Theatre Intangible alums just released new albums. Horsehair Everywhere re-edited and remastered their 2011 Theatre Intangible improv Cuatro Ninos and just released it as side A of their new tape “When Eyes Walk.” Pick up a limited-edition copy at Goldtimers Tapes.

Softly-Gently
Now that I finally have some free time on my hands, I’m releasing all the podcasts that have been patiently waiting in the queue. Here’s episode 94: Softly, Gently, starring Jesse Kenas Collins, Lawrence Crow, Brady Sharp, Stephen Molyneux and Jeremy Bennett, recorded on June 08th, 2012 at Noa Noa.

Boston experimental multi-instrumentalist Jesse Kenas Collins came to Noa Noa last year to perform a bill with keyboardist Lawrence Crow and guitarist Brady Sharp. See an excerpt of Jesse’s solo performance in the video below. After their respective sets, they combined with Horsehair Everywhere‘s Stephen Molyneux and Lyrebird’s Jeremy Bennett to perform this textural improv. I did the recording, live mixing, editing, and mastering. Thanks for listening!

This weekend is chock full of concert goodness, including a Saturday house party at Noa Noa featuring Memphis rock & rollers Big Waves of Pretty and new Denney & the Jets/Scala Brothers side project Promised Land. I don’t know about you, but I’m incredibly excited to see what the Scalas have up their sleeve.

Also performing are two T.I. participants, Stephen Molyneux and Samuel Steelman, both members of the Murfreesboro experimental improv collective Horsehair Everywhere. They’ll each be performing a solo set.

Stephen is co-founder of the tape label No Kings, and he’ll have plenty of No Kings tapes on hand for sale, including his new Belize field recording.

A little rock, a little experimental. Lots of fun. More info on the Facebook event page. Full disclosure: I helped organize this show.

Other great shows this weekend: Friday at Betty’s: Nudity, SAURuS, and Foster Dad. Sunday at Noa Noa: T.J. Borden, Ypsmael, Lawrence Crow, and Steven Dunning.

If you like the Murfreesboro improv collective HORSEHAIR EVERYWHERE and the experimental drums/sequencers/sound effects of HOBBLEDEIONS (aka Nashville’s hardest working drummer SCOTT MARTIN), then you don’t want to miss tomorrow’s show at Brick Factory. The lineup features HOBBLEDEIONS and three of the members of Horsehair Everywhere doing their own sets, including TJ RICHARDS’ New York City band TRABAJO (also featuring YUCHEN LIN), FRANK BAUGH’s SPARLKING WIDE PRESSURE and STEPHEN MOLYNEUX. Frank, Stephen, and TJ all appeared on this episode of Theatre Intangible. Scott Martin appeared on this one.
