I stumbled upon quite the odd device when dropping off some computers for recycling at a local computer show. I didn’t know what it was, but I had to have it. Turns out it’s some kind of bizarre pseudo-dermatologist LED therapy for rejuvenating the skin. Skin Concepts says:
Photo-rejuvenation therapy is based on improtant research by NASA which shows that certain frequencies of light sugnificantly increases new tissue growth, the synthesis of collagen and overall healing time after injury or surgery.
I haven’t done much research on this, and hardly anything comes up for it on a Google search; but odds are this thing is pure medical quackery. Nevertheless, it begs to be circuit-bent! I brought it home and was disappointed to discover that the insides had been gutted except for the circuit board attached to the front connections. Still, it will make an excellent housing for a musical device, and I know I can do something with those aluminum probes. Perhaps microphones that throw light at the performer’s face that pulse with the sound signal? A control voltage device combining the LEDs with a photo-resistor? What do you guys think? What should I make out of this contraption?
