New Albums from Horsehair Everywhere and sugar sk-lls

A few Theatre Intangible alums just released new albums. Horsehair Everywhere re-edited and remastered their 2011 Theatre Intangible improv Cuatro Ninos and just released it as side A of their new tape “When Eyes Walk.” Pick up a limited-edition copy at Goldtimers Tapes.

Ben Marcantel’s 8-bit / Gameboy project sugar sk*-*lls just released a pretty smokin’ new album called “intermission.” It’s free to download for a limited time on his Bandcamp page. Get it for free while you still can! Hear Ben on Theatre Intangible episode 47 Milk Vetch, also featuring Leslie Keffer and Scott Martin.

Nudity

I’m currently ensconced in the 2012 NASHVILLE FILM FESTIVAL (go read my coverage over at THE FILM TALK), but I wanted to pop over here real quick to tell you about a great show happening tonight at The End. We have San Francisco indie rock duo DIRTY GHOSTS and three of my favorite local acts: the electronic dance masterminds NUDITY, the 8-bit glitch-out SUGAR SK*-*LLS, and psych-kraut duo CONESTYLE.

NUDITY and SUGAR SK*-*LLS both have new tapes coming out soon. Watch this space for more info.

NO KINGS Records is a vital part of the local lo-fi and noise scenes. Sunday night, check out an intimate show at No Kings founder Stephen Molyneux’s place, featuring a roster of the label’s many talents: Ben Marcantel’s chip-tuned SUGAR SK*-*LLS, Ryan Norris’ ambient melodia COUPLER, STEPHEN MOLYNEUX himself, and Derek Schartung’s cardboard noise machine MALOCCHIO. Nearly all have appeared on Theatre Intangible at one point or another, most recently Stepehen in Episode 73: Cuatro Ninos starring HORSEHAIR EVERYWHERE.

The show on Sunday is FREE and starts at 8:3opm, on-schedule so Stephen tells me.

T.I. participant Ben Marcantel tipped me off to a very cool art exhibition this Saturday at the unlikeliest of places: Dive bar mecca Springwater Supper Club (since they don’t serve food, the supper is presumably four courses of PBR). Ben’s solo experimental Gameboy-glitch project SUGAR SK*-*LLS will be on hand to provide tunes in addition to 7 other DJs and bands. Here’s what Ben has to say about the show:

I’m quite excited to let you know that this Saturday at the storied Springwater Supper Club the GORILLA ART EXHIBITION will be featuring the work of my brilliant friend LUIS GONZALEZ (CIPACTONAL). I will also be playing/crooning my newest 8bit and pysche-dance jams via SUGAR SK*-*LLS. I’m scheduled to go on around midnight but be sure to come earlier to scope out the work of the talented pool of artists as they transform Springwater into a gallery…! You’ll definitely find something incredible for your collection at a steal.
