This Week in Concerts: Bird Names, Lylas, Robbie Hunsinger, Spirits of the Red City, & More!

Bird Names

This is shaping up to be an insanely-amazing week for concerts. Tonight, Monday, March 7th, head to The Basement for a Townes Van Zandt tribute night, featuring T.I. participants Lylas, Cortney Tidwell, and more.

On Tuesday, head on over to Gallery F to hear an electronic duet between Kinect hacker Robbie Hunsinger and cellist/glass percussionist Rhendi Greenwell (both T.I. players).

Wednesday, there’s a house show at 1026 Mitchell Rd. featuring Kyle Xavier Hamlett of Lylas, Forest Bride, and Styches; Spirits of the Red City; and Stone Jack Jones.

On Friday, tromp on down to Betty’s Bar & Grill for the phenomenal Bird Names, Square People, and The Solstices. Later tonight, I’ll be releasing a new artist showcase podcast with Bird Names, recorded during their last visit to town. We pontificate on music, Nashville, philosophy, Foley work, and many other things on my back porch along with Tommy Stangroom from Square People and Open Lot founder Jonathan Lisenby.

On Saturday, I’ll be heading to Cincinnati, Ohio for the FauxBeeA’nt Fair, featuring a dream list of circuit-bending artists, including Talking Computron, Thriftsore Boratorium, CMKT4, GetLoFi.com, and REED FREAKING GHAZALA! Stay tuned in the coming weeks for artist showcases recorded at the fair.

Last but not least, go back to Betty’s on Sunday, March 13th to see Hubble (Brooklyn), Toby Aronson (Vermont), and T.I. participants the Xists.
