JJ Jones
“Silver Lining: The Musical Metaphysics of Hope” 03-27-10, 7pm
The Back Chapel
Downtown Presbyterian Church
154 5th Ave North in Nashville

While Theatre Intangible has no official position on religion, those of you who know me know what my personal position is.  So it may seem odd that I’m recommending a show with religious connotations.  ~ORE~ contributor JJ Jones (whom you might of seen singing in a lifesized snowglobe around Christmastime) and I have had several conversations about our religious differences, and we one day hope to incorporate them into a Theatre Intangible episode called Argument.  For now, let’s say we respectfully disagree.  But that will not stop me from attending his “Silver Lining” performance at the Downtown Presbyterian Church tonight.  You don’t need to know god to feel the spirituality (and I’m using that term in it’s secular definition) of JJ’s highly-effective voice.

Of the show, JJ writes,

. . .this is my first full concert [in the United States] with totally original music, written together with Rainer Jancis of Estonia.  The songs reflect what I have learned on my search for absolute spiritual Truth, and I am very happy to share these musical thoughts with you.

If you’re non-religious, don’t let the “absolute spiritual Truth” scare you.  You will still enjoy this show on many levels.  If you ARE religious, then, even better.

After the show, be sure to head on over to East Nashville to see Simon Joyner, Kelli Shay Hix, and Paper Hats.  Tonight is a good night for music.
