Coupler (Ryan Norris)

Noa Noa is hosting an ambient electronic show tomorrow night with Coupler (Ryan Norris from Lambchop!), sugar sk*-*llsLogickal, and Future Daze. It starts at 10 p.m. which means you’ll be able to catch Free Form Friday at Centennial Park at 8 p.m. and then head over to Noa Noa for this.

Full details from the Facebook event page:

Ryan Norris plays guitar and keyboards for Lambchop, Kort, Cortney Tidwell, Hands Off Cuba and others. As Coupler he makes deliberate ambient music.

With krautrock sensibilities, Future Daze (Jonathan Miller and Charlie Davis), features drums/droning synths/guitar/violin.

sugar sk*-*lls is Ben Marcantel’s ambient electronic chiptune / Gameboy opera.

Logickal is the electronic/synth project of Nashville producer and engineer Jeremy Dickens.

This is the first Noa Noa show of the season. We won’t be doing quite as many shows as we used to, but we have a couple more up our sleeves in the coming months. Stream the artists below to see what you’ll be in for.

Centennial Park Black Box Theatre‘s Free Form Friday series returns tomorrow evening with Louisville’s finest experimental multimedia group Camera Lucida.

Camera Lucida (Roxell Karr and Jon Silpayamanant) incorporate interactive video, electronic & acoustic music, and live dancing to create sensory spectacles. Words don’t do them justice. Watch the videos below.

Also performing are Nashville’s post-dub-step / ambient band THE3AM with visual accompaniment by Dig Deep Light Show.

For more info on Free Form Friday, check out this interview I did for Nashville Arts Magazine with Metro Parks’ Mike Teaney.

Betty’s Grill on the west side has been kicking ass lately. When artist and promoter Leslie Keffer stopped working there, everyone assumed Betty’s would stop booking experimental music. But now thanks to the efforts of Betty’s booker Crom Giguere, they’re booking more great shows than ever before.

Case in point: Tonight’s show with Chicago’s The Humminbird. Singer Muyassar Kurdi channels spirits with  harmonium, autoharp, Raagini, and other instruments. sugar sk*-*lls‘ Ben Marcantel creates melodies with a Nintendo Gameboy. Voight Kampff Duo (Brady Sharp and Stephen Seifert) create experimental improv music with prepared guitar and synthesizers. Peggy and John play in The Cherry Blossoms and will be performing as a duo tonight.

Listen to the songs below to see if it’s your thing. More info on the Facebook event page.

There’s a great dance party tonight at a house not too far from Theatre Intangible h.q. here in Wedgewood/Houston. The show is billed under the description “CACHE OUT, choice DJs playing choice music,” and it features Atlanta’s Paul Maxwell, Knoxville’s W∆W, and locals METH DAD,  Hustle Up, and Treekeeper. The house is Black Pearl Warehouse, a venue associated with the excellent local blog Unruly Factions.

Check out their mixes below. For the Black Pearl Warehouse address, contact Destino Ramos Bugg.
